After participating in the gift lounge at the Gemini awards last year, McClintock, who has been designing jewellery for the last six years got an invite to be part of the gift lounge at the Golden Globes. Though she responded quickly with a yes, the spots had already been filled. But, what came back was an invitation of slightly bigger proportions.
An invite to the Oscars.
Despite the costs involved, McClintock knew that this was something she wanted to do to advance her career and broaden her reach to the United States.
"I think I've gotten to a point in my business where I've really got to push it to another level and I'm prepared for that as well," she explained. "Part of it is that you have to really be prepared for when something does click and go well. You have to be ready to meet that demand."
She said especially with the current state of the economy she's been guarded about growing too fast and never wanted to let the quality of her work suffer.
