King Ranch has the goods
Even in high school, Rose Morales dreamed of working at the famed King Ranch in Kingsville. It's considered the birthplace of American ranching and is one of the largest ranches in the world.
Her wish came true.
Today, Morales is the general manager of the King Ranch Saddle Shop, which sells an assortment of leather home furnishings, handbags, luggage, furniture, boots, clothing and, of course, saddles.
She's been working at the ranch for nearly 20 years and says it still feels like home.
"I grew up in Kingsville, and I love the history here," Morales said during a recent King Ranch trunk show in Houston. "It's such a part of Texas."
King Ranch is known for its luxurious leather goods, which are sold at the ranch's shop and online. The shop will make its first official appearance at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo , which it opens Tuesday Feb. 28.
"We've always had a deep connection to Houston," Morales said. "It was the right time to do this."
