Sweeney opens in London
Pauric Sweeney’s first boutique, which has just opened in London, is an impressive modern space designed and furnished by Sweeney himself. Those who know him say it’s like going into his own front room, with its carefully chosen furniture, Memphis shelves (designed by Ettore Sottsass) and artful steel and leather display stands specially made for the bags.Every object, not least the bags themselves, is like an art installation. The bags include favourites such as the gold python overnighters with signature braided leather handles, and the new green alligator clutches. There’s also a new eyewear collection. Scarf designer Susannagh Grogan pulled off a coup recently when she was selected to make gifts for the US Irish Alliance Oscars party for Michelle Williams, Melissa McCarthy and Katie McGrath. She has just returned from showing at Scoop, a directional fashion trade show at the Saatchi Gallery in London, where she picked up new stockists for her collection. She will do her first US show, Ceour, at LA Fashion Week this month.
